Moldova is in East Europe, we share borders to the west with Romania and to the north, east and south with the Ukraine having a population of 4,128,047 people.


History


In 1918 the supreme authority of the Bassarabian state – Sfatul Tarii, decided to unite with Romania. This unity lasted till 1940, the year when the country was annexed by the Soviet Union as a consequence of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact of 1939. Moldova functioned as a territorial entity within the USSR until the last decade of the XXth century. On the 27th of August 1991, Republic of Moldova became an independent and sovereign State.


Culture


The Republic of Moldova has many historic-archeological monuments (around eight thousands) which cultural-historic value is in the context of european general-humans value. The Republic of Moldova has an important cultural inheritance of incontestable value: archeological sites, dwelling houses, country estates, fortresses, cloisters / monasteries and churches, monumental art works, monuments and technical equipment, building ensembles – squares, streets, quarters, villages and urban centers or traditional architecture ethnographic areas.

The mobile cultural inheritance is owned by 87 country museums, of them 5 museums and 7 branches are directly subordinated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; 66 of them – to local public authorities. Their funds include about 700.000 units which are a part of national and world culture and history.


Tourism


Although it has a small area, the Republic of Moldova as a tourist destination has a great potential represented first of all by the geomorphologic aspect of its territory – an unusual diversity of landscape reservations or scenery and unique geological monuments of European and world value.


Over the last decade the priority forms of tourism in the Republic of Moldova have been: rural, wine, cultural tourism, health and beauty Tourism.


Foreign policy


European integration of Republic of Moldova was avowed as strategical option of foreign policy and internal policy in 2003. This option is the result of policy will of leaders of Republic of Moldova and entire political class. The signing of Actions Plan Moldova- European Union in 2005 is a proof of efficient politicy promotion in development relation between Republic of Moldova and European Union.


Science


The encouragement of the scientific research and stimulation of a long standing innovational climate were acknowledged under the law as main priorities for the social and economic development of the Republic of Moldova.


In order to give an impetus to the science development, it was adopted a decision to annually enhance the investments in the field of the scientific research, achieving by 2009 a level of up to 1% of GDP (in 2003 – 0.17%).


The researches in these fields are partly conducted jointly with researchers from the USA, the European Union, the CIS countries, Romania and other states; a considerable share of funds coming from abroad.


Health field in Republic of Moldova


In Republic of Moldova, health is one of the main priorities of the state, being reflected in National Development Strategy, National Health Policy, Health System Development Strategy, Health Reproduction Strategy, also in other sectorial and intersectorial political documents which are now being implemented in Republic of Moldova.


Being aware of the importance of fortifying the people health, the Government increased the financial sources, so that the financial allowance from the national public budget for the healthcare increased more than 7 times in the last 8 years. The public budget expenses for healthcare increased from 3,2% in PIB in 2000 to 7,1% in PIB – planned for the year 2009.


The pharmaceutical industry that was almost nonexistent years ago, now is strong, the number of manufacturers and exporters is very important and still growing, Moldova having 23 local manufacturers that produce for Moldova and they have registered 843 products for Moldova and 156 products for export in all CIS countries and European Union.


Even if the current law is very tough, Moldova AMED with their highly skilled specialists elaborated GMP that can compete with European GMP at any time. At this moment in Moldova, GMP is optional, in order to help domestic manufacturer to be in perfect order.


Investments in Moldova


There are many reasons to invest in Moldova, the basic reasons are:
